Description
I looooooooooooove this game and have a bit of a thing for Wander, the silly fool who goes running around the countryside, slaying Colossus, shooting fruit off trees and having a bit of a 'moment' with his horse Agro. I decided to cosplay him and was over the moon when my friend Heather said she'd cosplay Mono, his dead girlfriend.

I decided from the beginning that I wanted to work with a lot of textured, rustic style materials. I used suedette, pleather and wool for the tunic (although in the future I'd prefer to use more natural materials) and materials that cost me 30p altogether for the shorts ^_^ including a thick upholstry cotton and canvas. My tabbard was made from an 80% wool blend, which must have been lying around the fabric shop for years, as it was made in Huddersfield (a town that no longer produces wools). I drew out a pattern for the markings before cutting them out of a different wool, dyed them and scraped the edges to make it look less clean cut. I actually dyed parts of the wool pattern with a blueberry and vinegar dye - great fun if a bit stinky! A natural blue dye seemed a bit difficult to achieve so I turned to Dylon.

The bed-sheet bandages were all attached to injury tube socks so that they wouldn't slip down and the cuffs, headband & sandals (which were missing their intended base thanks to Royal Mail!) were constructed from a blue pleather (my actual cow hide didn't arrive in time either :D yay~)

Wearing this at Amecon was a lot of fun, although my feet were not liking a second day of wearing prong sandals. Heather's Mono looked fantastic and she brought along a frightening spoiler prop that will haunt my nightmares from now on! I loved that a bunch of people recognised this costume, and that those who asked what it was from will hopefully consider playing, what I consider one of the best games of late.

This was definitely version 1.0 of Wander. I knew I'd be remaking parts anyway, but after a few problems with the post and a limited time to construct things after leaving it a bit too late, I see room for great improvement.

Plus, I still have the sword and bow to make.
And we have a bigger group planned...for a game that has so few characters :D

Wow, can't wait to see this! I love Shadow-chan (playing it again at the mo), me and J were gonna do a group where I can be the chick i.e. I wear a pretty white dress and lie about XD

Might do Ico, then I can be a ditz and claim I'm in character lol

I'm amazed by the lengths you went to make this all look 'natural' and by the sounds of it (Royal Mail deliveries aside) you had fun while doing so!

I still haven't played the game but I was impressed in person, and now looking at reference pics, even more so :) I'm glad you got some top pictures too!

I remember seeing this at Amecon and trying to stay calm. SoC is one of my favourite games of all time and the fact that you actually cosplayed Wander just made my little cosplay life! I adore this so much, and you put so much effort into making this a "natural" costume, it really is awe-inspiring!

now all you need is someone to cosplay a 20 storey colossus....

You really suit this costume, it's a shame I didn't see it in person. You look so cool in the photos!
