For once, a news post that isn't 3 months after the event! I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas on behalf of all the Cosplay Island team.

We hope that you are all enjoying yourselves and are getting into the Christmas spirit (eating, drinking and falling asleep in front of the Queen's speech...) Did anyone receive any interesting cosplay related presents over the festive season?

So drink, eat and be merry! And what are you doing on here anyway - it's Christmas!

New staff, new events, new content!

Well that's it for all the major cosplay events this year, with the Grand International Cosplay Ball rounding off the year quite nicely! That doesn't mean this site will get any quieter however as this news post is about to show. Please read on for news of the big summer convention for next year, announcement of our newest staff member and a mighty handful of new content!

Still buzzing from London Expo? Can't wait for the next event? Well for any cosplayer after a chance to wear their classiest costume there's definitely one date you should mark in your diary. On November 30th, the Grand International Cosplay Ball will be held in South London and is shaping up to be an evening full of entertainment!

We managed to get hold of Emily Bastian, one of the members organising this extravagant event, to see if we could find out a little bit more...

New Costume Progress Features

With AmeCon out of the way we've finally found a bit of time to finish off some new stuff we've been working on for a while. So we're pleased to present four changes to the costume profile pages:

To-Do List - You can now track the progress of your costume with a customisable to-do list for each of your costumes.
Costume Journals - Keep a journal as you work on your costume, including pictures, to show how it came together.
Double Photo Limit - Due to popular demand we've doubled the picture limit per costume up to 12. So you should now have room to include reference images and detailed close-ups.
Tagged Gallery Images - While browsing the photographer galleries you can now tag pictures showing your costumes and those images will appear on your costume pages.

Manga Art exhibition in Richmond (August 15-16)

Sadly Amecon is over, I hope everyone enjoyed the convention and look forward to seeing all the new costumes being uploaded. Hopefully by now everyone will have returned home, caught up on their lack of sleep/malnutrition and started hunting online for photos!

A little late notice, but for those of you who are London-based - beat the post-con blues by attending another event this weekend. A manga and anime art exhibition is running this weekend in Richmond, promising to be a day of art and culture with the added bonus of cosplay!

One Year On - a personal thanks

Most of you will not have any attachment to this date but for myself it is rather special. On this day last year, the first version of Cosplay Island was launched. At first I was worried that people wouldn't join and that people would just stick to the larger international sites. However a year down the line we've been joined by over 650 members and had nearly 7000 photos uploaded; I guess my worries were unfounded! I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a few 'thank you's.
