now THAT is what I call laying your groundwork
we've just found out what the lovely snake ladies have on their backs; Tenruybito slave tattoos. But it ties in Hacchis sunny pirate tattoo, something we saw well over FOUR HANDRED chapters ago.
I also love the parallel you can draw between the sunny pirate tattoos being a coverup of the slave tattoos to free the former slaves from an unpleasent past and Namis pinwheel tattoo as a coverup of her "slave" tat from Arlong. and I bet *that* is something that was planned from the first time we saw the Arlong tattoo, waaaaaaay back near the beginning of the run
Fisher Tiger is a massive badass. Was Jimbei his buddy or did he bretray them? and what IS going on with the Tenruybito? does it tie into the Void Century, the poneglyphs and One Piece? Will some weird little detail, porbably from a cover arc, end up being incredibly important?
Also looks like Hancock is now "good"; being shitty to people has never stopped a One Piece character being let off the hook as long as they've got a decent excuse, look at Robin and Nami. It'd be interesting to have a Shichibukai on side for once, Kuma notwithstanding.
